Message From SVBR President Donna Roemmelt

With all the snow in early March, it was hard to believe spring is just around the corner. Hopefully, along with the change of seasons will also come an increase in business.

I would like to invite you to the next membership meeting of the Southern Vermont Board of Realtors® to be held Thursday, March 18, at the River View Cafe in Brattleboro. Springfield attorney John Marchica, will be discussing RESPA changes, and how they affect our business.

Please also mark your calendars for the April 15 meeting in Wilmington.

Just a reminder, as license renewal date nears, if you still need credits, our website, www.SVTRealtors.com has a very thorough listing of classes. I would also ask, if at all possible to consider taking the profession standards class. It is being held Apri l7 in Chester. Not only will you earn your credits, but this will enable you to sit on a grievance hearing if you are ever needed.

The Vermont Association of Realtors® will be sponsoring Race For A Cure, set for July 17 at Hildene, Manchester VT. There are opportunities to volunteer as well as participate.

Our board is in need of your help. We need immediately, a chair for our Public Relations committee. We will also be looking for new officers & board of directors for next year. Any board member would be happy to discuss these positions with you. Our organization depends upon volunteers like you & I, to provide services to our members. Please consider contributing your time.

March Member Meeting

The March Member meeting will be held on Thursday, March 18 at 9:00AM at the River View Cafe in Brattleboro. Springfield attorney John Marchica, will be discussing RESPA changes, and how they affect our business. Raymond Morcan from Mortgage Financial will also be speaking on the changes to the Good Faith Estimate that will affect your business.

License Renewal Time!!

BROKERS. You need 16 credits for license renewal. Four (4) of those credits need to be the current mandatory course. The current Mandatory course is titled The Mandatory Course for 2008-2010 Renewal. Certificates must be dated between April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2010.

SALESPERSONS. You also need 16 credits for license renewal. Four (4) of those credits need to be the current mandatory course. The current Mandatory course is titled The Mandatory Course for 2008-2010 Renewal. Certificates must be dated between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2010.

EVERYONE must have their licenses renewed by the applicable deadline date - even if you've only had your license for a short period of time.

Membership Information Correction

Is your information in our online database correct? If it isn't you could be missing opportunities for consumers to reach you.

Studies show that online directory listings with additional text, company logo and your personal photo get clicked on and read more often.

To review or change your information in our database, follow these easy steps.

sign on to the site with your email address and password, using the login box at the bottom of the left hand column. If you don't know your password, use the "Forgot Password" link to have it emailed to you.
Once logged into the site, click the View Profile link which can be found in the same box where you entered your login information.
Review your profile and edit any information which is incorrect. Upload your company logo and your photo too.

Please remember that this information does not upload to NRDS or VAR. You must change your information with them seperately.

VAR Annual Convention & Expo, September 14-16, 2010

The Vermont Association of Realtors® will be hosting the annual Convention & Expo at Stratton Mountain Resort on September 14-16, 2010. This is a great opportunity for those Realtors® in Southern Vermont to attend and get a majority of the Continuing Education credits required to renew your license.

Please stay tuned for additional information and mark these dates on your calendar. We will want a strong showing from Southern Vermont in order to prove to VAR tha the convention should be in the Southern portion of the state every other year.
